Lori G. Kletzer
Lori G. Kletzer is provost and dean of faculty and Professor of Economics at Colby College. She earned her Ph.D. in economics from the University of California, Berkeley and her undergraduate degree from Vassar College. She joined the Colby community in July 2010, from an 18-year affiliation with the University of California, Santa Cruz. At UC Santa Cruz she held posts of chair of the Economics department, Academic Senate Chair and Vice-Chair. She has held teaching and research appointments at Williams College, the University of Washington, the Brookings Institution, and the Peterson Institute for International Economics. She is the author of two books on the impact of trade in manufacturing on employment, jobs and workers and numerous journal articles. Her research focuses on the domestic labor market effects of globalization and policy responses.
Murali Chandrashekaran is the Fred H. Siller Professor of Marketing and Behavioural Science, and Senior Associate Dean for Strategic Partnerships and Global Initiatives at the Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada. He is also the Chair of the Americas for the Partnership in International (PIM) Network – a consortium of 63 leading business schools globally, whose members share best practices and foster international student exchanges and joint programs. He serves on UBC’s China Advisory Council, on UBC’s Advisory Council for the Master of Public Policy and Global Affairs, and on the UBC Taskforce for the creation of a School of Public Policy and Global Affairs. Murali is also UBC’s representative to the Global Network for Advanced Management, a network of 29 leading international business schools from diverse regions, countries, cultures, and economies in different phases of development, seeking to leverage interconnectedness of global institutions to develop global leaders for coming decades.
Murali is widely published in leading academic business journals (Journal of Marketing Research, Marketing Science, Journal of Marketing, Journal of Consumer Research, and Journal of Consumer Psychology) in the areas of innovation generation and diffusion, customer satisfaction, human judgment uncertainty, and the link between market-based firm assets and long-term shareholder value. His current research is in the area of resilience valuation and asset management – specifying measures, monitoring systems, and estimation models to derive metrics that capture the short-term and long-term impact of assets and investments on resilience of cities. He conducts training programs for several multinational firms in the areas of innovation and new product development, business strategy, decision-making, and customer satisfaction.
In his various leadership and administrative roles, Murali is working on creating and leveraging global collaborative networks with corporates, communities, and cities to help position experiential-based management education within the nexus of business, government and civil society, and to help build capacity, strengthen economic development and foster the creation of shared value. He is currently leading the creation of a global Collaborative on Urban Resilience and Effectiveness (CURE) that brings several schools in the GNAM, the 100 Resilient Cities network, the Rockefeller Foundation, and practitioners from business, government, and civil society, to mobilize knowledge and talent to address resilience challenges of cities globally.
He lives in Vancouver with his wife and three daughters, and has taken up competitive curling as a new hobby.
