Map the System 2019

October 31, 2018 – June 9, 2019

Map the System is a global competition that challenges students to think differently about social and environmental change. Participants are asked to deeply explore an issue that matters to them and take the time to explore, probe and research all its connecting elements and factors, before identifying "impact gaps" or areas for potential intervention. They are then asked to share their findings in a way that engages audiences and promotes understanding.

The goal of Map the System is to incentivize a learning-first approach to social change – one where people take the time to understand and build upon existing efforts before attempting something new. This is not a pitch competition, but rather a discovery process for students of any discipline who have an interest in social and environmental change.

How to become a Map the System partner institution

Map the System is open to post-secondary education institutions all around the world. We invite you to partner with us to run your own Map the System competition and develop social impact leaders who collaborate with others to fully understand a challenge

Registration for institutions is open until 31 October 2018. The deadline for student submissions is April 1, 2019; finalists are chosen by May 8; and the final event at the University of Oxford, UK, takes place June 7 – 9, 2019.
